Sheep Shank

The Sheep Shank is used to bypass a worn section of rope that is in the middle of a length of rope.

It is also used to shorten a rope that is too long for a particular application, but it will only hold when there is tension at both ends of the rope.

Due to the nature of the knot it should be further reinforced by suitably strong sticks as shown below.
