Frostbite

Caused by extreme cold, Frostbite is the result of minor blood vessels constricting at the same time as ice crystals forming in the extremities (fingers, toes, ears, nose, lips).

Frostbite that is left untreated will invariably result in amputation or removal of the affected area.
