Deep Water Soloing
Imagine bouldering with a soft landing and you have the concept of deep water soloing. A fall over deep water is considered a nicer way to fail in your attempts to scale a tricky rock face, provided the fall is not too far!
Deep water soloing, like the dry land equivalent of bouldering, is a rope free environment which creates for many a pure form of outdoor rock climbing. It is still not a sport for the inexperienced climber and it is essential that the depth of the water that you may potentially fall into has been verified as ‘deep’.
This checking water depth is an often overlooked element of deep water soloing as assumptions are made, which can be potentially disastrous.
