Competition climbing
Considered to be one of the worlds fastest growing sports, competition climbing takes place on artificial surfaces.
A variety of routes are mapped and graded according to difficulty and the competition is a race against the clock. Also considered to be a very safe way to break into the sport of climbing, with injuries restricted to equipment failure or belaying errors.
Competition climbing is bound by the regulations of the Comite Internationale des Competitions d’Escalade (CICE), which itself is an off-shoot of the world climbing authority – UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme).
